The U.S. Department of Interior has proclaimed the Lake of the Ozarks as one of the seven best areas to live in the entire U.S.A. This 10,000 acre lake was originally developed to provide electrical power to Missouri and is one of the fastest growing recreational areas in the Midwest USA, open to fishing, waterskiing, and other water sports. The Lake of the Ozarks is located in the central part of the state of Missouri, well within driving distance of major metropolitan areas of St. Louis, Kansas City, Chicago, and Memphis.



Lake East

Eastern Lake Area The Eastern Lake area, also known as Bagnell Dam area, has been the St. Louis area recreational site and as such has been built up and commercialized much more than the Western area.  Many resorts have been developed and are very popular for conventions, meetings and seminars of large groups and companies.

Lake West Western Lake Area
The Western lake area has lagged behind the Bagnell Dam area in development largely because of the long drive around the arms of the lake to gain access. Recently, a new bridge across the lake has opened access to the major undeveloped areas on the western side and the western side is expected to rapidly develop as well.
