Belleville. The "Beautiful City" was founded in 1814 and almost immediately became the county seat of St. Clair County. Incorporated in 1819 as a village, Belleville grew into a chartered city of 3500 by 1850 and today boasts a population of 44,000+, and has become the financial, legal, medical and professional center of Southwestern Illinois.

Scott Air Force Base. Scott AFB hosts the Air Mobility Command, Air Force Communication Computer Command and Control Agency, and the U.S. Transportation Command. It's population is over 19,000 and encompasses over 2500 acres. Military housing includes Scott Inn for temporary housing, and over 1700 family housing units plus 104 mobile home spaces.
