MAJOR ST. CHARLES COUNTY CITIES

St. Charles County is the fastest growing county in the State of Missouri and one of the fastest in the United States. The county experienced a 48% growth in the 1980's to a current population of over 220,000. The unemployment rate is below St. Louis and the poverty rate is less than that of the State of Missouri. Most of the adult population is between 30 and 54 and its median household income more than $46,000. Housing prices of about 15-20% lower than comparable homes in St. Louis County, as well as easy access to jobs have fueled the growth.


Lake St. Louis
Lake St. Louis is a young, fast growing community of 7500 conveniently located at the western edge of the St. Louis metropolitan area. Lake St. Louis is bordered by I-70 on the north and I-64 to the south. Downtown St. Louis, Busch Stadium, Kiel Center, Gateway Arch, and America's Center are all within a 45 minute drive. Lambert International is less than a 30-minute drive. Spirit of St. Louis airport, Mid-Rivers and Chesterfield Malls are each within 20 minutes. With its easy access to shopping centers and the entire St. Louis area, and with its abundance of recreational amenities, Lake St. Louis provides a unique environment for raising a family or starting a business. Families enjoy the use of comunity-owned private 550 acre and 75 acre lakes, tennis courts, swimming pools and 18 hole and 9-hole golf courses. Both lakes offer boating, fishing, and swimming, with water skiing limited to the large lake. Two 18-hole championship golf courses are available to all residents. The Lake Forest Country Club hosted a Nike tour event in 1994 and 1995, and will again in 1996. The new Hawk Ridge Golf course is the centerpiece of a technology Business Park. There are no tract homes in Lake St. Louis; all the homes are custom built with prices ranging from $85,000 to over $1,000,000. Local covenants govern the minimum size and exterior appearance of homes.

O'FALLON
O'Fallon is the fastest growing city in the State of Missouri. It's current population is about 20,000 covering 166 sq. mi. Most of its housing is new, having been built in the last 10 years. The city administration agressively pursues new businesses and has succeeded very well. Strip shopping and industry provide a very good tax base, and its nearness to Mid-Rivers Mall (~6 mi.) makes it a very attractive place to live.

ST. CHARLES
St. Charles was the first capital of the State of Missouri with the capital building still in use for judical business. Old Town is a restored historical shopping area located along the Missouri river. Numerous craft, antique, and cafes are located in Old Town. The Goldenrod Showboat and River Queen gambling boat are moored along the waterfront. The city, with a population of over 55,000 is located along I-70 and is the closest St. Charles County city to St Louis County. Riverport ampitheatre is located just accross the Daniel Boone bridge.

ST. PETERS
The city of St. Peters is in the middle of St. Charles County along I-70. This city of 20 sq. mi. and 50,000 people was the fastest growing city in Missouri during the 1980's, tripling its 1980 population. Mid-Rivers Mall and the new Rec-Plex center (site of the 1994 Olympic Festival swimming/diving events) are centerpieces of the city. The median age of the people is 30 yrs, and 90% are high school and 25% college graduates.

WENTZVILLE
Wentzville is located at the western edge of St. Charles County. The city has a population of 5,000 and is still rural in nature. The city is fortunate to have the GM auto plant and Belz Factory Outlet Mall to provide significant tax revenue to support the demand for growing city services.
